Davos Alzheimer’s Collaborative Healthcare System Preparedness Program Featured at Gerontological Society of America Conference
INDIANAPOLIS, November 4, 2022 – The Davos Alzheimer’s Collaborative (DAC), the organization leading an unprecedented response to Alzheimer’s disease, today shared insights from its healthcare system preparedness program on early detection of cognitive symptoms, through a panel, “Bringing Innovation to Life in Clinical Practice,” at the Gerontological Society of America (GSA) Conference.
“This panel highlights the real-world impact that is core to the work of the Davos Alzheimer’s Collaborative,” said Phyllis Ferrell, executive-on-loan, Davos Alzheimer’s Collaborative, and global head, external engagement for Alzheimer's disease & Neurodegeneration for Indianapolis-based Eli Lilly & Company. “Our DAC healthcare system preparedness team is translating theory into practice by supporting the initiatives that will directly improve healthcare system capacity to better care for our aging populations.”
Moderated by Tim McLeod, PhD, co-director, Healthcare System Preparedness Program, Davos Alzheimer’s Collaborative, the panel included DAC grant recipients running global early detection programs: Deanna Willis, MD, Professor of Primary Care and Population Health Research, Indiana University; Dr. Valeria Baldivieso, MD, Geriatrician, AdventHealth, Central Florida; Dr. Alice Bonner, PhD, Senior Advisor for Aging, Institute for Healthcare Improvement; Nathan Hart, PA-C, Director of Hospital Medicine, Medical Care at Home, Functional Medicine, and Wellness, Cleveland Clinic Community Care; and, Diane Ty, Director, Alliance to Improve Dementia Care, Milken Institute Future of Health Aging.
The panelists discussed challenges and recommendations for workforce development, opportunities for sustainability and scalability, and the support that is still needed to implement early detection programs in healthcare and community settings.
