The Power of Technology in Alzheimer’s Early Detection: A Roadmap for Global Implementation
The Spring Meeting of the DAC Healthcare System Preparedness Learning Laboratory, 21 June 2023
On June 21st, the Davos Alzheimer’s Collaborative (DAC) Healthcare System Preparedness Learning Laboratory convened 350+ stakeholders from 50+ countries and 300+ organizations to share lessons based on the 19 early detection initiatives in 12 countries across DAC flagship pilot sites and grant programs.
Scaling up early detection of cognitive impairment promises to transform the global response to Alzheimer’s disease, especially with potential disease-modifying therapies in the pipeline and emerging data on lifestyle behaviors that can reduce risk and improve patient outcomes. Advances like blood-based biomarker tests, digital cognitive assessments, and other innovations are on the market or the near-term horizon, bringing early detection into reach for healthcare systems around the world. It’s now time for governments, healthcare systems, and innovators to move from proven efficacy in research to meaningful impact in real world clinical practice.
